It is with really sad news that I am writing this President's report. The President of the Capital City Chapter, Doug Rieck' s wife, Johanna, passed away on Oct. 25. It is a huge shock to us all. Our thoughts are with Doug during these very difficult times.
Doug was the first the Vice President of CIWGA when we were one. Then when we divided into three chapters he was willing to start the Capital City Chapter. He has been in that role for at least two years and has done an excellent job. Johanna has always been a driving force behind Doug. She was indeed a great wife, mother and partner for Doug. She also really enjoyed the water garden that Doug built.
I just wish I could do more to ease the pain that Doug must be going through right now. Johanna completed Doug. Doug was planning on retiring in the next month and then both of them were going to be snow birds for most of the winter.
The CIWGA is sending flowers and/or plants to the funeral. If you want to write to Doug he is at 1315 SW Broad, Des Moines, Ia 50315.
I am at a loss for words to go on about anything else. My focus is on Doug right now.
Hope to see eveybody at the meeting at Rieman Gardens. We are in the really fancy meeting room.
