Where has the summer gone?? Kids are going back to school and here I am thinking that summer is just heating up. Well, it has been hot and we all know that our water lilies love it. Those warmer water temperatures put the adrenaline to those plants -- as long as they have enough food and room in the pot or substrate.

As soon as the water starts cooling our hardy water lilies will stop blooming but most tropical water lilies will continue to bloom -- they will have blooms on them right up to the first frost. This is a good reason to have at least one or two of them in your pond.

But what do you do with your plants when fall approaches or before the first frost? Last year, in October, I did a program on winterizing your pond. We had a great turnout and I know that most of our members what more. Soooooo... I will do another program on winterizing our ponds but this time I will do it in September -- before any chance of frost. There are some things that we need to be aware of before this or for that matter, cooler water.

Let's meet at 7:00 PM at the Alliant facility on Monday Sept. 8. I would like all the Directors to meet there at 6:30 prior to the meeting. We have to go through some organizational details. The title of the program is "Getting Your Water Garden/Feature Ready for Winter". Of course we will have some great door prizes and be finding another home for Lizzy.

Hope to see everyone there!!
