The big news for us this month is our water garden tour on July 19. The tour is a joint effort between CIWGA and the Story Co. Master Gardeners. We have 8 gardens lined up for this year's tour. Pete and Elaine Tekippe's garden is one of them and we all were able to see it at our last meeting. Nice garden!! This is only an example of things to come on the tour.

Please tell your friends and relatives about our tour. It's a great value and it also is a way for us to make a few dollars to fund future programs. Please read more about the tour later in this newsletter.

I want to thank Lisa Harmison, Greg and Carolyn Knop, Rod and Kate Mulder for taking the initiative and going ahead with the tour. There was a period that I thought that the tour was not going to happen this year due to myself not having enough time. A stay in the hospital due to a leg infection confirmed that I was not going to be able to chair the tour. But Lisa and gang took over. We owe them a big Thank You.

As for our next meeting, we are having it at Russ and Jean Buechler's place, 30785 Deer Drive, Huxley (Map on how to get there is later in this newsletter). Russ and Jean just recently had their daughters wedding at their place and it had to be perfect for that -- Right Russ? They have been very busy this past year installing their new water garden as well as a lot of new landscaping around it. It will be a great garden to see. Bring your lawn chairs and we will have another presentation on algae -- except that this meeting we will focus on string algae (moss, blanket weed, filamentous algae are all the same thing). I would like for everybody to bring their successes and failures in dealing with this stuff. I promise that we will have a very interesting discussion.

Hope to see everybody at our meeting.

The Big Toad, Jamie
