Polk County

Our May meeting will be coordinated with the Plant Sale. See you in Ames.

Top of Iowa

The Top of Iowa Water Garden Club met April 21 at the home of Duane and Deb O'Banion. Soon as the meeting closed we moved to the work room and made veggie filters. Duane supplied the PVC pipe, grids, glue and other materials while Ed brought the plants.

Important upcoming events for May include our club exchange. The idea of a plant/fish sale was broadened to include any landscaping materials members want to bring. Items are to be brought to the home of Mary Schultz, 1881 12th St. NE, Mason City at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17th. As soon as items are dropped off, members will go inside for coffee and doughnuts while Rose, Roy and Glennis tag items. When all items are marked, the doors will open and the sale will begin!

Members are encouraged to contact friends and businesses for donated items. Robert & Evelyn Swarner told us they will be moving and have lots of garden materials to bring. We are not publicizing the sale this year, but non-members are welcome. Members have first chance to purchase.

A few days after the sale on Monday, May 19th we will hold our regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. at Happy Acres in Osage. The owner, Mary will speak about plants as oxygenators and sell plants at a reduced rate for members.

We have a great summer calendar of events planned and hope you can join us. For more information or to obtain a brochure, call or email Ed Schroeder at 641-923-3512 or krafty@ncn.net.
