Hope everybody saw the article in the Des Moines Register on Tues. June 20. Our own Gretchen Triplett was quoted several times in the article and it was very well written. It was an article about the Bethany Manor project along with a great picture beside the pond there. If you didn't see the article we will have one for you to read at the next meeting.
The container gardens that was donated to the Hospice House by several of our members (Helene and Alan Magruder, Robin Whetstone, Steve Westvold, and myself) are done and are looking pretty good. When you get out that way -- stop in and look at what Barb Wheelock set up with what was donated. Thanks to those that stepped forward and donated these containers.
Our meeting this month is at Kenn Outzen and Dean Koob's place. Kenn and Dean are charter members of our group and have been instrumental in so many of our activities. They moved their garden last summer and would you believe they have it done to the point that it is a destination garden to visit. You will remember Kenn and Dean previous garden was on the pond tour a few years ago. It is hard to believe but I have heard that their new garden has outdone their previous one.
This is a chance to see one very nice garden and I know that Kenn and Dean have some very unique plants that we would all like to see. We will meet at 7:00 PM and have a short program on propagating plants and then see their garden. Bring your lawn chairs and have a great relaxing night with other ponderers. Map on how to get there is at the end of this newsletter.
One last item that I want to mention -- POND TOUR TIME. We are selling tickets right now so if you know of anyone that is thinking about a pond or just wants to see some very nice gardens -- this is their chance. Let me know how many tickets you need and we will get them to you. Check out the section in our newsletter on the pond tour.
See you at the meeting.
