Polk Co. chapter met at the Kirkbride home on May 22nd. We installed a liner in the newly dug pond and then had a very interesting on design and landscaping by Kenn Outzen. Our next meeting will be June 24th at Carol Culmer's home. 110 42nd St. Des Moines. The program that night will be Pumps for the Pond by Simon Seah of Water Creations.
The Top of Iowa Water Garden Association met on May 20th at Lake View Room at Clear Lake Band Shell. We visited a pond in Clear Lake.
Meeting was called to order by Ed and he reported on how the Central Iowa Water Garden Association operates and some suggestions on how our club should operate.
Motion carried on operating as a chapter of CIWGA and sending $7.00 per membership unit to CIWGA for newsletter, etc.
There were 25 people attending the meeting with 10 couples and 2 singles signing up and paying dues.
A very interesting program was given by Robert Swarner on raising fish. He also passed pictures of their lovely back yard, three ponds, and a tank.
The next meeting will be held at the St. Ansgar Greenhouse at St. Ansgar. Directions are to take Highway 9 East to T-26 blacktop north to stop sign which is on 4th Street or known as Main Street, Blue Belle Inn will be on the corner, go right 1 block then left to end of the street. Address is 415 North George Street. Bring lawn chairs!!! Owners Tom & Joyce Crowley will have a program on water plants. Their email is grnhouse@omnitelcom.com.
